Aipan is one of the traditional art forms of Kumaon, Uttarakhand. It is known by a variety of names in different parts of India. It is also known as Alpana in Bengal, Satiya in Gujrat, Rangoli in Maharashtra, Chowk pooran in UP and Kolam in south India. It is mostly done using ‘biswar’ or a solution made by soaking and grinding rice.
